Super Sunday Selections!

Although it is not Sunday, I will (from now on) take a look at the young stars that performed especially well in the most recent fixtures on Saturdays and Sundays in a segment I call "Super Sundays." The Premier League was on international break this past week so I will take a look at a young star's performance in most recent memory, who also happens to play for his international squad as well. The player I aim to look at is Marcus Rashford, an 18 year old player who has risen through the ranks at his club Manchester United quite recently. This young man has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in just 5 appearances for the start of Manchester United's 2016/17 campaign. Marcus Rashford, at just 18 years of age is becoming a regular starter for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
There are no shortage of Marcus Rashford highlights as he is lightening quick, innovative on the ball, more than willing to take on defenders, and is a reliable finisher the his coach, Jose Mourinho, clearly has faith in. He has revitalized a lacking offense with his youth and speed that simply leaves defenders unable to predict his next move towards goal. I think that Marcus is the future of Manchester United's attack, in that Rooney is getting older, and Marcus is already making a difference in the senior squad.

Please feel free to add comments, and/or let me know how far you think Marcus Rashford could go as a player!

Sifting through the Stars

Image Credit to: thefuturebuzz.com (Andrew Stawarz)
I put this image up to illustrate the idea that there are a huge number of potential future aces (or stars) in the Premier League that are very young. This means that, sure there are youngsters who may potentially make an impact of the league, however my goal is to look at the youngsters who are already making an important and useful impact for their teams. This could include starting games, being brought up to the senior squads for practicing and regular involvement, or coming into a position where injuries are frequent. This picture contains a lot of stars in it, similar to the premier league, however just like this picture some stars fizzle out or burn out. So in looking at young stars in the PL it is important to look at stars with the highest upside, or the highest potential based on their involvement in the criteria above.
